Custom Craftsmanship: 10 Remarkable Ways to Transform Porfirio’s Miami Beach

Custom craftsmanship, custom bar, bespoke woodwork, high-end architecture, bespoke interior

Custom craftsmanship has defined the past ten years for the team at Lignum Custom Woodwork, earning us an enviable reputation among designers, architects, and developers. The splendid and atmospheric interior at Porfirio’s Miami Beach Restaurant has become another flagship project for our business.

The Project: High-End Architecture

Established in Mexico City in 2012, Porfirio’s Restaurant has perfected Mexican cuisine with an exquisite, contemporary, and inspirational touch coupled with amazing presentation and distinguished service. In 2014, the business invested in a new Miami Beach restaurant, requiring a high-quality bespoke interior.

The vision for the Miami Beach restaurant was to create an environment that mirrored the sophisticated yet welcoming ambiance of their flagship location while incorporating unique design elements that would make the space stand out. This new venture required a high-quality bespoke interior that could seamlessly blend traditional Mexican motifs with modern, upscale design elements. The goal was to provide patrons with an exceptional culinary experience and an immersive environment that captured the essence of Mexican culture through detailed craftsmanship and innovative design.

Porfirio sought to create a space where every element, from the dining tables to the wall panels, would reflect their brand’s commitment to excellence and authenticity. This ambitious project called for extensive custom woodwork, intricate lighting solutions, and various high-end materials to bring their vision to life. The challenge was to ensure that each piece of the interior design would be aesthetically pleasing but also functional and durable, capable of withstanding the rigors of a busy, high-end restaurant setting.

The Client.

Development Service Solutions (DSS) managed the overall project in partnership with STA Architectural Group. DSS prides itself on a trifecta of development project success: being on time, on budget, and with happy clients who’ve saved time and millions. STA has built a studio of talented, qualified design professionals and a distinguished portfolio of national and international work, specializing in high-end architecture and interior design.

The Challenge

When DSS Consultants approached us to work on this project, they needed thousands of square feet of wood wall panels, lighting, floating metal display shelving with LED-lit acrylic, a marble hostess stand, bars, counters, and communal tables. Only three months were left before the opening date when we were engaged to deliver this complex build-out!

Our Approach: Custom Craftsmanship

This deadline was ambitious but perfectly achievable. Every project we deliver is custom-manufactured, and our team brings together all the skills, expertise, and craftsmanship required to take a project from initial plans to completion. We turned the original designs into carefully crafted and fully workable installations.

We focused on each element required using the highest quality materials, including wood, metal, stone, and lights. Specialty finishes, such as copper with patina, rigorous testing of the LEDs, and load testing of the immense floating shelves were crucial steps in our process. We also sourced high-quality hardwoods to produce the counters, bars, and communal tables.

The Result

The project was completed on time and within budget to our exacting standards. The quality of the finished project radiates custom craftsmanship due to the combination of carefully crafted materials and the expertise of our team. Our most challenging projects come from clients like architects and developers who are under tight deadlines and demanding logistics. They rely on many subcontractors to get the job done right. Contractors are highly focused on construction and completing projects within compliance and budget. A subcontractor like Lignum, who can bring various trades into one company, makes everyone’s life much easier.

As one of our clients shared, “I first heard about Lignum when they came across a project on Miami Beach, a restaurant called Porfirio’s. I had lots of very interesting and detailed pieces of design that I wanted to be executed, and they were the only ones in town who could do it.”

With our commitment to excellence and our ability to meet challenging deadlines, Lignum Custom Woodwork continues to set the standard for bespoke craftsmanship in the industry.
